A clear level. More useful context.
Easy-to-understand levels are supported by an underlying scale that can evolve through eligible, confirmed Challenge results.
Five BYONPB skill levels
The qualitative level is what you see first. The numeric range behind it is what evolves quietly as eligible, confirmed results accumulate.
- 0.0–3.0BeginnerDeveloping consistency, positioning, scoring, and basic shot selection.
- 3.1–5.0IntermediateBuilding reliability, positioning, and growing strategic play.
- 5.1–7.0AdvancedStronger control, anticipation, movement, and decision-making.
- 7.1–9.0ProfessionalHighly consistent, controlled, and tactically strong play.
- 9.1+EliteThe highest range within the BYONPB skill-level system.
Easier to read, easier to match
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Professional and Elite are easier to understand when discovering possible opponents. BYONPB can use the underlying scale to support its own algorithm without making players interpret a long decimal number.

What counts, and what stays separate
Confidence is separate
Confidence is based on the number of matches played. More eligible match history gives players more context about how established a skill level is.
Eligible play matters
Confirmed Challenge results can contribute to the underlying BYONPB Skill Level. Casual Open Play does not.
Score confirmation matters
The opposing team can confirm or dispute a submitted score, helping create a shared match record rather than a one-sided claim.
Separate competition systems
Ladder position and tournament standings are separate because they measure performance within their own competitive formats.
