Competitions
Tournament, League & Competition Terms Framework
Applies to third-party, BYONPB-hosted, virtual/distributed, and hybrid competition formats. This framework is incorporated into the Terms of Service and sits alongside any event-specific terms, rules, and waivers presented at registration.
01 Purpose and Format Neutrality
This framework supports multiple competition structures without requiring the core BYONPB Terms to be rewritten for every format. Formats may include Round Robin, Round Robin + Playoffs, Single Elimination, leagues, ladders, distributed/virtual competition, hybrid competition, and other structures disclosed in event-specific rules.
02 Third-Party Organizer Using BYONPB
When a private Club, tournament director, organization, or other third party uses BYONPB to administer its own competition, the third party is the organizer and BYONPB is the technology provider.
Organizer is responsible for participant terms/waivers/releases, insurance, facility/court permissions, safety, eligibility, competition rules, staffing/officiating/administration, fees/refunds, and legal/operational compliance applicable to its event.
BYONPB platform Terms and Privacy Policy continue to apply to use of the software.
The organizer represents that it has the authority, facility permissions, insurance, and participant documentation its event requires, and agrees to indemnify ACE PICKL LLC for claims arising from the organizer's event. No agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship is created between ACE PICKL LLC and any organizer.
03 BYONPB-Hosted Competition
When ACE PICKL LLC expressly identifies itself/BYONPB as the organizer, event-specific terms will be presented at registration and will address registration, eligibility, fees/refunds, participant waiver, venue/facility arrangements, safety, conduct, scoring, disputes, scheduling, cancellation/rescheduling, and organizer authority. Registration requires the participant's affirmative acceptance of those terms and the applicable event waiver, and ACE PICKL LLC retains the acceptance record.
04 Virtual / Distributed Competition
Participants may coordinate and play matches at different courts/locations and times during a defined competition window, then report results through BYONPB. Unless the organizer expressly controls a location, participants are responsible for selecting/verifying the court, obtaining access/permission, complying with facility rules, and making their own safety/transportation decisions.
05 Hybrid Competition
A competition may use distributed qualifying/league matches followed by designated in-person playoffs, semifinals, or finals. The legal/operational responsibility may differ by phase. Event rules will identify when the organizer controls a venue or date and when participants independently arrange their matches.
06 Competition Administration
- Registration, eligibility, divisions, and roster requirements. Competitions organized by ACE PICKL LLC/BYONPB are limited to participants aged 18 or older. Independently operated Clubs and other third-party organizers may permit participants under 18, including those under 16, subject to their event eligibility policies, applicable law, and BYONPB's platform requirements. Those organizers are responsible for obtaining required parental or guardian permissions and participant documentation. Event eligibility does not itself authorize a minor to create or access a BYONPB account.
- Competition format, scoring, standings, tie-breakers, advancement, substitutions, withdrawals, forfeits, and no-shows.
- Score submission/confirmation and dispute process; the competition organizer has final administrative authority over competition scoring disputes so brackets and standings can progress.
- Conduct, warnings, penalties, disqualification, and removal.
- Schedule/venue/format changes reasonably required by weather, facility issues, participation levels, safety, or other operational circumstances.
07 Fees, Cancellation and Refunds
Each paid competition will disclose, before registration, the registration fee, withdrawal/refund rules, cancellation/rescheduling treatment, facility/weather contingencies, and any credits. Rules may differ by competition and organizer; the core framework preserves that flexibility subject to applicable law. If ACE PICKL LLC cancels a BYONPB-hosted competition and does not reschedule it, registered participants receive a refund or credit as stated in the event terms, and a refund where law requires one.
08 Participant Waiver
The general Participant Waiver covers ordinary player-arranged activity. A BYONPB-hosted competition, including a virtual, distributed, in-person, or hybrid competition, requires event-specific terms and an event-specific participant waiver presented at registration. Distributed or hybrid phases where participants independently arrange their own matches remain covered by the general Participant Waiver in addition to the event terms.
09 Future Club Ladder / League
The framework permits future Club ladder/league formats while allowing the applicable Club/organizer to establish eligibility, scheduling windows, score rules, standings, disputes, forfeits/no-shows, substitutions, and withdrawals.
